A New Old Way of Using the Internet
I think we can all agree that current social media on the internet is a disaster. Being tapped in to every transient thought that crosses the minds of our fellow citizens is not only maddening but also corrosive to the fabric of our society.
It didn’t always used to be this way. Not even after the internet came along. Initially, people could still share their ideas on the internet in a less rapid fire less infuriating way. I’m talking about blogging.
Blogs are of course still around. But blogs lack a lot of the characteristics that give social media platforms appeal. Ease of use, interactivity with others, easily discoverable, etc. I wanted a way to publish a blog but retain some of these desirable characteristics of social media without succumbing to corporate algorithmic control. So I’m building MiniBlogr.
This site, for instance, was built with mini blogger. This entry was dictated from my phone, edited, and then securely pushed to my own hosted MiniBlogr server.
